Four children. One devastating loss. A future worth protecting.
In one tragic day, four children lost both parents. Their father died, and as the family travelled to deposit his remains at the mortuary, the vehicle carrying them was involved in a devastating accident. Their mother died at the scene. Suddenly, four children—aged 17, 15, 11 and 7—were left to face a future without the two people who had cared for them. But their greatest loss did not have to become the loss of their future. About a month later, the eldest daughter gained admission to study Chemistry at university. It should have been a moment of celebration. Instead, it became a painful question: Who would pay her fees? Who would provide accommodation? Who would help her continue? That was where we stepped in. Through Hold My Hand Foundation, now transitioning to My Safe Home Haven, we supported her admission, accommodation, food and continued education. Today, she is thriving in her studies. But we knew one child's future could not be protected while the others were left behind. Her brother received support for WAEC, JAMB and NECO. Her younger sister received support for Junior WAEC, while the youngest child was placed on scholarship. Four children. Four educational journeys. One commitment. We could not bring their parents back. But we could help ensure that their parents' death did not become the death of their dreams. This is why education is more than school fees. For vulnerable children, education can mean stability, dignity, independence, protection and a pathway out of poverty. There are many more children whose education is hanging in the balance because of circumstances they did not choose. They need someone to stand in the gap. Your support can help keep a child in school, register an examination, secure a university admission, provide learning materials or give a vulnerable young person the opportunity to build a meaningful future. Sometimes, the most powerful rescue is protecting the future a child has not yet had the chance to live. Help us keep the door to opportunity open. From Crisis to Hope. From Loss to Possibility. From Survival to a Future. My Safe Home Haven Raising the living standards of children, vulnerable women and families in dire need.
