From the Streets to a Future

From the Streets to a Future

They were called witches. We chose to see children.

When we found these children on the streets, they had been abandoned, rejected and labelled as witches after losing the family members who had cared for them. They were surviving by picking scraps and doing whatever small jobs they could find. But their story did not have to end on the streets. We stepped in. We brought them into a safe home, provided food, clothing and care, and helped them return to school. More than meeting their immediate needs, we gave them something they desperately needed—the confidence to believe that life could become better. And it did. Years later, we were able to trace and reconnect them with their mother, whom they had not seen for years. Their reunion was deeply emotional, opening a new chapter of healing, family restoration and belonging. Today, these children have grown into young adults who are doing well, making responsible decisions and building meaningful lives. Our commitment, however, did not end with rescue or reunification. We continue to support their growth, education, wellbeing and transition into productive adulthood—because sustainable humanitarian work is not simply about taking someone out of crisis; it is about raising their living standards and giving them the tools to remain out of crisis. Their journey—from abandoned children on the streets to young people with hope, family and a future—is a powerful reminder: When we invest in people, lives can change. And there are still many children waiting for that opportunity. Their story changed because someone cared. Help us change the next child's story. Support My Safe Home Haven as we continue the journey from rescue to restoration, from survival to stability, and from vulnerability to a meaningful future. Because every child deserves more than a place to survive. Every child deserves a safe home, a better standard of living, and a future worth believing in.When we found these children on the streets, they had been abandoned, rejected and labelled as witches after losing the family members who had cared for them.
